In 1992, in Kutaisi, at 25 St. Trinity Street, Irodi Sakhokia and Giorgi Grigolava founded a small food production enterprise manufacturing two types of meat products. The products quickly gained recognition in the local market, and demand for them increased steadily.

In 1994, Jelini Gokadze joined the business, after which the production continued to expand. However, due to the general financial crisis of 2001, the enterprise ceased operations. In the same year, with new investment, a renewed strategy, and a development plan, the food production company LLC “Gurmani” was established. Its founders were Irodi Sakhokia, Jelini Gokadze, and Giorgi Grigolava.

In 2007, the company purchased a 2,500 sq. m. building at 163 Tsereteli Street in Kutaisi, where a modern production facility was established.

During 2007–2008, with the support of the Millennium Fund and USAID, the company received a $125,000 grant, which was used to purchase modern European-made production equipment. This investment contributed significantly to the company’s growth and created new employment opportunities. The company cooperates with qualified experts from the United States, the Netherlands, and other European countries, who continuously contribute to the implementation of new technologies and production improvements.

In 2010, the company established cooperation with the Dutch organization “PUM.” Based on recommendations from PUM experts, a sausage and deli meat production workshop was opened, creating additional jobs and expanding the company’s product range.

In 2012, as part of its production development strategy, the company opened a confectionery workshop. Highly qualified pastry chefs invited from France and the Netherlands trained local specialists and introduced modern confectionery technologies.

In 2015, with support received through the co-financing grant program of USAID/REAP (Restoring Efficiency in Agricultural Production in Georgia), the company invested $27,000 to purchase modern Italian-made shock-freezing refrigeration units.

In 2015–2016, based on its financial and economic performance indicators, LLC “Gurmani” was recognized as one of the leading enterprises in the region. During the same period, the company was awarded recognition as one of the best employers.
