Kutaisi based Gurmani Ltd was founded in 1992 as a butcher and meat processing facility. In relatively short time, their products gained popularity and demand increased. While the company struggled during the economic crisis in 2001, company owners Irodi Sakhokia,  Jelini Gokadze and  Giorgi Grigolava recognized clear opportunities for growth. They upgraded processing capabilities, adding semi-finished (bake and serve) pastries and (cook and serve) meat products to its portfolio of products, including traditional Georgian as well as popular Russian and European dishes.

Over the next 15 years, the company's market penetration and brand recognition as a specialty food producer would increase. With a watchful eye on market opportunities, the company added sausage and baked goods to its already impressive portfolio of products as well as the opening of four retail shops in Kutaisi. They also integrated quick freezing technologies to facilitate a line of frozen retail products and implemented a more robust marketing program that included a consumer-oriented website.
